  1. The Bowling Game (Order of Operations)
    Operation Order
This tutorial has three levels—Easy, Medium, and Hard. The student, shown 3 numbers and an equation, must type the correct number in the correct place to complete the equation.
  2. Using Tiles to Add and Subtract Fractions with Unlike Denominators
    Visual Fractions
On-line tutorial with instruction & practice in identifying, renaming, and operating with fractions and mixed numbers. “Find Grampy” (with each topic) is a fun tutorial—with explanations.
  3. More or Less (Game)
    Fraction Four
Pairs play a game against the clock to convert fractions to decimals to percents.
  4. This Ratio Is Golden; Applications of the Golden Ratio
Explore these three sites to discover fascinating examples of the golden ratio in the real world:
    • Golden Section in Art and Architecture

Fibonacci Numbers and The Golden Section in Art, Architecture and Music

  5. Pascal’s Triangle: Creating Designs Using Factors, Multiples,
    and Divisibility Rules

    Coloring Multiples in Pascal’s Triangle
Activity to investigate number patterns in Pascal's Triangle created by placement of multiples.
  6. The Mathematics of Magic Squares
    The Game of Fif
Akin to playing Tic-Tac-Toe on a Magic Square. Select three numbers whose sum is 15—before your opponent can! See page 5 of “The Mathematics of Magic Squares” for directions.
  7. Making a Quilt Square
    Quilting and Mathematics
Quilting designs are used to help students experience transformational geometry.
  8. Tessellations and M. C. Escher
    Tessellate!
An activity to generate an irregular polygon that will repeat without overlapping across a plane
  9. Discovering Scientific Notation; The Universe of Powers of Ten
    Secret Worlds: The Universe Within
This tutorial may take a minute or two to fully download. It begins by viewing the Milky Way at 10 million light years from Earth. You then “move through space” towards Earth in successive orders of magnitude of 10. Both exponential notation and standard notation are used with each picture.
  10. Prizes in a Cereal Box (Experimental & Theoretical Probability)
Simulating Probability Situations Using Box Numbers
Scroll down a bit to the first grid (below the Instructional Plan). To set up the cereal box simulation for 6 possible prizes, click on the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the upper left-hand corner of the grid. (This tells the computer to randomly select from 6 different prizes.)
To begin the simulation, press Start. As each prize number is selected, it is graphed in the grid. You need to quickly click Pause to stop the simulation as soon as you have obtained all 6 prizes. The number of Draws it took you to obtain all 6 prizes is shown.
  11. The Factor Game
    The Factor Game
This is an electronic version of The Factor Game. To play with the numbers 1–100, scroll down to the yellow game board and adjust the Game Type menu below the game board to “100.”
  12. What Shape Is He in?; Tangrams, Fractions, and Area
Developing Geometry Understandings and Spatial Skills through Puzzlelike Problems with Tangrams: Tangram Puzzles
This NCTM site utilizes electronic tangrams. To use the interactivity, scroll down to the tangram pieces below the word Task. Click on the picture you would like to create. There are eight such pictures shown below the tangram pieces in small grey boxes.
A grey outline of the picture will appear next to the tangram pieces. Drag the tangram pieces onto the outline to fill it. You can rotate a piece by grabbing a corner. You can flip a piece by
