The Age of Enlightenment
The incredible Constitution

Essential Questions:
    1. What was the Age of Enlightenment's impact on America's Declaration of Independence and the Constitution?
    2. Can common citizens be trusted to govern?
    3. What is the best form of government?
Procedures:
We have seen how culture impacts us in the present through music, videos, movies, video games, books, television, and heroes. We will now look at how our early leaders were influenced by Enlightened Ideas. In order to see this influence, we must study the key ideas of the Enlightenment period. We will study this era by doing the following:
    1. Lecture/discussion Age of Enlightenment
    2. Guest lecture- Thomas Hobbes
    3. Meet the Press- cooperative group activity
    4. Write a five-paragraph paper from what you learned from meet the press activity.
Assessment
We will make sure that we understand the concepts of the Age of Enlightenment and be able to answer the essential questions by
the following activities:

  1. Monitor effort
  2. Checking notes
  3. Answering questions from meet the press activity
  4. Five paragraph essay
