The 2022-2023 school year looks to be an exciting one for the Flyer Bands!

FLYER BANDS

Beginning Band - Open to 6th grade students who would like to learn to play a band instrument. Flute, Oboe, Trombone, Baritone and Tuba will be offered this school year. Beginning Band meets every other day during A-Blocks.

Sixth Grade Band - Open to experienced 6th grade musicians. Sixth Grade Band meets every other day during A-Blocks.

Seventh Grade Band - Open to 7th grade musicians. Seventh Grade Band meets every other day during A-Blocks.

Eighth Grade Band - Open to 8th grade musicians. Eighth Grade Band meets every other day during A-Blocks.

Flyer Wind Ensemble - By audition for 7th and 8th grade band musicians. Wind Ensemble rehearses during Overture Period on Tuesday and Friday mornings.  Auditions will be held the first full week of school.

Flyer Pep Band - Open to all band members. Pep Band will rehearse Thursdays after school.

How to Sign Up for Band

To make sure your student is officially registered for band, parents should go into eFunds to pay the fee for Band ($94). When paying the Optional Fee, please select the correct school year.  Please email Mrs. Reatherford if you have any questions.

September 22   Jr High Band Day at GBS (school day field trip)

September 30   Perform @ GBS Football Game time TBA

November 2      Fall Band Concert @ 7:00 p.m.

February 2       GEF Recital Night @ 6:00 p.m.

March 9             GBS & 8th Grade Band Concert @ GBS time TBA

May 18               Band Concert @ 7:00 p.m.

October 8          District ILMEA Band/Jazz/Orchestra Auditions

November 5      District ILMEA Band/Orchestra/Choir Festival

November 19    District ILMEA Jazz Festival

February 11         IGSMA Solo & Ensemble at Attea this year!

November 2               Veteran’s Day Program at Glenview Sr. Center

March 4                      IGSMA Band Contest

March 17, 18 & 19      Wind Ensemble performs at our musical

April 29                        IGSMA State Contest (if we qualify)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ILMEA (JR. BAND/JAZZ FESTIVAL) AUDITIONS

ILMEA (Illinois Music Educators Association) Jr Band Festival Audition materials are in our Flyer Band Resources folder.  Please email Mrs. Reatherford if you need the link.  ILMEA audition recordings are due October 8. 

PLEASE EMAIL MRS. REATHERFORD BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 if you are planning to audition for ILMEA. She will give you all the music you need to prepare. Students who are selected will rehearse and perform at the festival on Saturday, November 6.

ALL-ILLINOIS JUNIOR BAND

AIJB (All-Illinois Junior Band). AUDITION RECORDINGS ARE DUE NOVEMBER 4!

You need to prepare music, record yourself (I'll help!) and I will submit it for you. If you are selected, it's an overnight (January 20-21, 2023)  at the University of Illinois! Click this link for audition requirements: Audition Materials
